Before you can buy medical marijuana in Florida, you’ll need to be evaluated by a doctor. The process for medical marijuana evaluations is not time-consuming or confusing when you work with a knowledgeable medical marijuana doctor.

Here at Nature’s Green House in Fort Lauderdale, our staff can walk you through the entire process and make it as convenient as possible to get your Florida medical marijuana card.

New Patient Evaluation

Your medical marijuana evaluation is the key step you need to complete to get your medical card in Florida. Once you reach out to our staff, we’ll help you manage the rest of the process from end to end. We stay completely up to date with all of the state’s latest requirements, which helps us streamline the process for maximum speed and convenience. Simply follow the steps below to see if you qualify for medical marijuana in Florida.

1. Get a Medical Marijuana Evaluation Appointment

First, contact us to schedule your appointment. We’ll respond to you quickly and make sure you’re prepared to proceed with your medical marijuana evaluation. A knowledgeable member of our staff will be able to answer any questions you may have and get an appointment scheduled for you. At this time we can talk you through the process, make sure you know what to expect, and confirm that you have what you need.

To get a medical marijuana evaluation, you must be a permanent or seasonal Florida resident. You also must be at least 18 years of age unless you have parental consent. Finally, make sure your appointment is with a doctor who is registered with the Florida cannabis program. Not all doctors have received the training and certification required to recommend you for a medical marijuana card.

2. Gather Your Medical Records

You don’t need to be referred by your primary care physician, but you will need your medical records. If you’re unsure about what you need, don’t have a primary care physician, or if you’re having trouble getting your medical records, reach out to us with your questions.

In addition to your medical records, you should be able to provide proof of Florida residency and a photo I.D. When you contact us to make your appointment, we’ll work with you to make sure you know exactly what you should bring.

3. Marijuana Card Eligibility Under Florida Law

On the day of your appointment, a medical marijuana doctor will perform an in-person consultation. The doctor will talk to you about your symptoms or health conditions to determine if what you’re experiencing qualifies you for medical marijuana in Florida. The following are specifically mentioned by state law as qualifying conditions for your medical marijuana card:

  • Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)
  • Cancer
  • Crohn’s Disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Glaucoma
  • HIV/ AIDS
  • Multiple Sclerosis (MS)
  • Parkinson’s Disease
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)

Any terminal condition already diagnosed by another physician besides the qualified physician making the recommendation for medical marijuana.

If none of the conditions above apply to you, you can still set an appointment. The doctor can consider your medical history, conduct an examination, and decide if the potential benefits of medical cannabis are likely to out outweigh the potential health risks for you. Ultimately, this decision comes down to the doctor’s discretion after considering your pain, symptoms, and health condition.

4. Get Your Florida Medical Marijuana Card

If your doctor concludes that you qualify for medical marijuana in Florida, you’ll be entered into the Medical Marijuana Use Registry. As soon as you’re added to the registry, you may apply for your Registry Identification Card. The fee for this application is $75.

Immediately after your application gets approved, you’ll receive a temporary medical marijuana card via email. This temporary card is completely valid, and you may use it until your physical card arrives in the mail. At this point, you’re ready to buy medical marijuana in Florida.

6. Renew Florida Medical Marijuana Card

Here in Florida, you must be recertified for medical marijuana every 30 weeks to prevent your card from expiring. This is also a good opportunity to talk to the patient care staff about what you’ve been experiencing with medical marijuana.

We may be able to make further recommendations that make your experience more beneficial and enjoyable. As part of our mission to offer the best medical marijuana card evaluation Florida has to offer, we regard patient care as an important and ongoing process.
